Congratulations to the winners and the competitors in both pools of today’s Derrymore Gala in South Lake Leisure Centre!
As always, the Maher Shield (four lengths of the pool) was the highlight event, with Jack D hoping to retain his title; a big ask which is rarely achieved. However, it proved to be a challenge that Jack was well fit for, as he managed to keep building on an early lead to ensure he collected the shield for the second year running.
Pushing Jack all the way were Conn, who finished second, and James and Síomha, who finished joint third.
Over 30 pupils took part in today’s event, which was brilliant to see; hopefully everyone enjoyed taking part regardless of the results.
Thanks to Ms McKavanagh, Mrs McCann and Mrs Nelson for helping me ensure everything ran so smoothly, and thanks to the parents were able to show up and support everyone today too.
