Derrymore Host First League Blitz of the School GAA Season

26th Oct 2022

Thanks to Aghagallon GFC for the use of their facilities yesterday as we hosted the first blitz on the new North Armagh Section season.

All schools managed to bring along two teams, which meant a very busy morning with around 150 children getting lots of football.

In almost perfect conditions considering the time of year, there were a lot of very talented footballers on show, while myself and Kieran have been very pleased with the progress that all our pupils have been making through the Monday afternoon training sessions.  Our biggest headache was deciding on which players to bring!

Being a 9-a-side tournament, we brought along two squads of 12 players and we were more than impressed with the talent on show.  Our A team beat Magheralin and drew with Lurgan Model, while also running Aghagallon, Derrytrasna and St Teresa’s close in what appears to be a very competitive section.

Our B team had a terrific start too; they beat Lurgan Model and Magheralin, while drawing with Aghagallon, Derrytrasna and St Teresa’s in what is also shaping up to be an equally competitive section.

Thanks to all the parents who came along to support, and a huge thank you to Callum Mulholland and Philip Talon who gave up their Tuesday night to set up the four pitches which helped so much with the smooth running of all the matches.

Finally, we all wish a speedy recovery to Harry after an awkward collision left him needing medical attention - hopefully you’re back in action very shortly, Harry!
