Our Gaelic team had a great experience at the Lismore Blitz yesterday, managing to top their group with convincing wins over Presentation PS and St Mary’s Derrytrasna, before drawing with St Anthony’s - a game which we were very unlucky not to win. However, our excellent start ensured we qualified for the Lismore Cup competition due to a superior scoring difference.
Progressing to the semi-finals, we were paired against Tannaghmore A. Racing into an early lead, Derrymore showed great belief and determination to stay in the lead going into the final minute. However, Tannaghmore managed to get the ball into our net before defending for their lives, and hold on for a one score win.
Despite their disappointment, the Derrymore lads were an absolute credit to their school and no doubt will bring yesterday’s experience into their next blitz in term two.
